Cha Am beach is located on the sunrise coast of the Gulf of Thailand around 200 Km south of the Capital of Thailand Bangkok ( Krung Thep in Thai).

It has long been popular with Thai people after the Thai Royal Family built their summer palaces here in the early years of the 20th century, many of which you can visit today.

The long stretch of white sandy beach goes for miles and miles and at weekends and Thai public holidays the main beach in the town becomes full of Thai families, enjoying beach activities such as banana boat rides, horse riding and riding along the beach roads on tandems and tricycles.
The tasty local seafood is in abundant supply by the endless food vendors who ply the beach under the sea of parasols.

If crowded beaches aren't your thing, come here during the week when the beach is almost empty in some places. Even on the busy holidays you can always find a nice stretch of beach of your own.
Just leave the town beach and the crowds thin out until there is nobody else around.

As for Cha am attractions, there is plenty to keep you busy.

The area around Cha Am is famous for it's golf, with six world class courses in the area.

The nearest Thai Royal Palace is just 5km from Cha Am and well worth a visit.

You can go walking in the beautiful hills, with some stunning scenery or for longer trekking visit Thailand's largest National Park, Kaeng Krachan.

Cha Am hotels range from cheap guest houses, available all along the beach road for just a few hundred Baht a night, up to 5 star luxury resorts.

The best way to get to Cha Am beach is by minibuses from Bangkok. There are also many buses and a few trains that stop here.

Cha Am Beach is a great place to visit on your travels through south Thailand and offers a slice of the real Thailand that has been lost in most other Thai beach resorts.
