Kota Kinabalu known simply as KK throughout Malaysia, is the capital of Sabah state, on the island of Borneo.
KK is the gateway to the tourist attractions of Sabah, including Mount Kinabalu, the nearby idyllic islands of Gaya, Mamutik, Manukan, Sapi, and Sulung in Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park, Kinabalu Park, Poring Hot Springs and Sepilok Orang-utan Rehabilitation Centre.
The city itself is a very modern, having been razed to the ground during WW II. Attractions in the city include the Sabah Museum, the view from Signal Hill of the nearby islands.
