Goa was made famous as a popular destination in the sun by the hippies of the sixties and 70's and a still a few of the hardcore hippies can still be found hanging around the sun soaked beaches.

But Goa has become so much more than it was back then while at the same time staying so very much the same. In places the impact of mass tourism are sadly all too obvious with beaches such as Baga and Calungute which, during the Goa high season could easily be confused with those surrounding the island of Tenerife.

Other beaches such as Palolem and Anjuna also have also been impacted highly but the evidence is not so obvious and both beaches have maintained the chilled out atmosphere and vibes that made Goa so famous in the first place.

Other beaches, while maybe not the party capitals of the state, still offer the peace and serenity of completely undiscovered beaches.
